LATEST INFO ON UNILAG HOSTEL ALLOCATION FOR RETURNING & FINAL YEAR STUDENTS (2014/2015)

In a recent 'Lagmobile' message sent by the office of student affairs this evening stated that students can only ballot for hostel only after the payment of school fees and registration of courses. The message goes thus:

'To ALL FINAL YEAR & OTHER RETURNING STUDENTS.
Consequent upon the recently declared public holiday, the registration window for bed space allocation is hereby extended till Friday, 9/01/15. For d avoidance of doubt, only students who r fully registered for 2014/2015 academic session as at this date will be eligible to ballot for accommodation.

NYSC 2015 BATCH “A” MOBILISATION EXERCISE

The National Service Youth Corps (NYSC) has released the time table for its 2015 batch “A” mobilization exercise.

The time-table which was issued at the NYSC Pre-mobilization Workshop held on Thursday, December 18, 2014 is as follows:

1. Briefing of Prospective Corps Member: January 19 - 23, 2015
2. Display of Accredited Programmes/ Courses on NYSC website: February 1 - 5, 2015
3. Submission of Senate Approved Results by Corps Producing Institutions (CPI) to NYSC, Abuja: February 15 – 21, 2015
4. On line Registration by local and foreign trained Nigerian graduates: April 2 - 4, 2015          
5. Notification of Prospective Corps Members: April 13 – 15, 2015 
6. Delivery of Print out to (CPI) for corrections: April 15 – 17, 2015
7. Verification of complaints by the Prospective Corps Members (PCM) & Corps Producing Institute (CPI): April 17 - 18, 2015    
8. Submission of concessional list to NYSC, Abuja: April 20 - 22, 2015
9. Delivery of Call-up letter to Corps Producing Institutions (CPI): April 27 - 29, 2015
10. Online printing or collection of call-up letters at the Institutions: April 27 – May 4, 2015 
11. Orientation course for 2015 Batch “A”: May 5 - 26, 2015

[ON CAMPUS] IMPORTANT NOTICE ON PROCESS TO IMPROVE WATER SUPPLY/DISTRIBUTION AT OZOLUA/HIGHRISE AXIS

The process to improve water supply/distribution at Ozolua/ Highrise Axis of the University of Lagos staff quarters is currently underway.

This process involves excavation for laying of new pipes and construction of water reservoirs. Specifically, new pipes will be laid along: Ozolua Road; Eni-Njoku Road; Orishejolomi Crescent; Alvan Ikoku Road; Abdu Attah Road; and Roads within College of Medicine Quarters.

 All residents along these roads are implored to bear with the situation and allow the contractors access to routes and site for proper execution of the works.

[OPINION] NIGERIA AND CODED EMPLOYMENT RECRUITMENT

According to the statutory of Federal Civil Service,all Nigerians who are qualified and have valid certificate are entitled to a civil job upon showing their interest to such offer. I don't know maybe this aspect of the Civil Service Act was drafted outside the shores of Nigeria by none Nigerians. But the truth is that, that column actually exists in the act.

Tertiary institutions graduate thousands of youth every year, meaning in every calendar year, Nigeria always have qualified citizen clamouring for employment. Youth after the compulsory service year take to the street, job site, blogs and other site to seek for employment. Most of this site actually publish real and ghost vacancy, which 2/3 of the applicant are never called for any interview or even get any feedback from the said vacant positions.
